Our Build – Gas Connection

This job had had to be postponed due to the Covid situation so it was a relief to finally get a new date, albeit a few months late.  After a couple of days’ delay due to machinery and fittings not turning up, the guys could finally get started.

Unfortunately, after just a few meters in, they couldn’t push the pipe any further, so they had to dig further up the route of the conduit run and break in there to see if they could get in that way.  Then the rains came, just to make things more tricky!

They still weren’t winning the battle so the supervisor came to site to help sort out the issue… The only way to get through was to use a smaller gas pipe but we’d have to get clearance for this.  Clearance was given to reduce the size of the pipe to 32mm so we could forge ahead ?.

Unfortunately, with the delays earlier in the week, we were running out of time with our street license, so there was a late evening digging in the footpath to finish the work before our license expired!

The final connection ran smoothly the following morning thanks to 2 great gas engineers.

Next up…electrical connection, but we’ve got a few weeks’ breather before that one.
