Our Build – Corona and our build

Well, as you can imagine, things have been very quiet over the last 4 weeks with our site closing down due to Covid-19.  There is absolutely no-one out there who has not been affected by this terrible out-break and our thoughts are with those who may have lost friends and relatives during this very difficult time.

Fortunately, we had ordered some materials before the lock-down, so they’ve been sitting around on site for quite some time.  This did mean that we were able to have a couple of contractors, practising safe-distancing, to put on the cement fibre boards which are required on the lower ground exterior for fire-safety reasons, before we can do the upper storey.

Unfortunately, the screws which were delivered with the boards seemed to go awol, so it was a bit of a mad panic to try and find a supplier who had the specific type that was required for the job.  The last 3 boxes were ordered from good old Screwfix!  It wasn’t enough, but could keep them going for now…

It was a glorious day with un-broken sunshine, which meant work could proceed with spirits lifted.  What a difference it makes to the exterior…

Section between the storeys was put in too, which really makes it feel more like a house.

It was a very busy day spent mainly on the telephone for me, trying to find out availability of trades who will be required once the frame is complete.  We are hoping this may be as soon as 3 weeks!
